Vote for the Giza Pyramids

I was told recently that the world is going to choose a new set of wonders of the world. It does make sense since most of the 7 wonders known to us don’t exist anymore. The only standing wonder is the Giza Pyramids.

So now you know. Type your way to http://www.new7wonders.com/. Register an account and choose your favourite 7 from 21 new wonders candidates.

    Waleed Nassar Featured in Panoramas.dk

Hans Nyberg’s Panoramas.dk has featured my VR photo of a demonstration against harassment of women in the streets of Cairo. I’ve always believed in the huge potential of VR photography in the field of photojournalism (or as I call it, VR photojournalism). Especially if the photos puts a light on social issues that do not get local media attention.

I appreciate the recognition and will continue using VR photography to show things that matter.

    The Battle on the River-Tyne

Kozy and Dan drew another panoramic illustration of silly monsters, birds, robots and themselves being naughty. It was done for the Spank the Monkey show at the Baltic Center.

And they didn’t forget to put it out as a VR image so we can look around and enjoy this bizarre battle. Thank you Kozyndan !

    Standing Under Chicago’s Bean

I had never heard of the mirrored statue at Chicago’s Millenium Park until today. In the past, Park security did not even allow anyone with a decent camera and tripod to photograph it. But now things have changed.

Tom Lassiter took his professional VR photography equipment to photograph the Bean. You can stand infront of it or underneath it.

    Worlds Within Worlds

The people of Digitally Distributed Environment made this very interesting video by converting photographic 360-degree panoramic images into a video 3D environment. I’m not familiar on how to do this since I haven’t played with any 3D remodelling software. If you know how to do it or know of an online tutorial, please share it with me.
