The Aftermath of Katrina in 360˚ Video

MSNBC has an online feature, Rising From Ruin, covering stories from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. They’ve used 360˚ video to allow us to see amount of distruction which occurred to this unlucky city.

Panoramic Video has not been able to handle distortion correction but any video of this kind is very interesting to watch. It allows you to control the view of the camera as the action is happening. Would be great to use it in documentaries.

Matthew Uyttednaele of Microsoft Research is under the camera. He is not behind it as you can read about the making of these videos and see some photos of the camera in action.
